Precise structural carpentry and framing — the cousin trade to GDL Carpentry, scaled up to full builds.
What we take on
- Framing & structural work — floor systems, walls, roofs: the part of the build every later trade is measured against, so it is worth getting square.
- Load-bearing changes — removing or altering a wall that is carrying load, with the beam, posts and point loads engineered rather than guessed.
- New builds & garages — detached garages, laneway structures and full new construction, from the slab up.
Framing is where the rest of the build is decided
Drywall, cabinets, tile and trim all inherit whatever the framing gave them. A wall that is out by a centimetre is invisible until the cabinet run does not fit, and then it is three trades deep. We frame to the drawings, check as we go, and would rather lose an hour to a measurement than a week to a fix.
Load-bearing work, honestly
If a wall is holding something up, the answer is not "it will probably be fine". It is a beam sized by an engineer, posts that carry the load to something that can take it, and an inspection. That is the only version of this work we do, and if a project needs an engineer we will tell you before anything is opened up.
Tell us about the project. Email info@gdlcontracting.ca with what you are building, roughly where in Metro Vancouver, and when you would like to start — we will come back with what it involves and what to expect.
